Basic Stir Fry recipe
Serves 3-4
Ingredients
- 250 g meat of choice (beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish)
- 4-6 cups of fresh vegetables
- 1-3 tbsp of water
- 3 tbsp peanut oil
- Noodles/rice
Sauce
- tbsp Soya sauce
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp sake or sherry
- 1/2 tsp ground fresh ginger
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Directions
Before you start, check the cooking time for the noodles and rice. Try to time your cooking so that the stir fry and noodles/rice are ready at the same time. The total cooking time for the stir fry should be 10 mins.
- Put all of the sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
- Chop the meat into small thin strips, then place to soak in the sauce for about 15 mins.
- Dice the vegetables.
- Heat your wok/stir fry pan and add 1 tbsp of oil.
- Once the oil has heated add the meat that has been marinating in the sauce and stir for 2 minutes.
- Add the vegetables and 2 tbsp of oil and stir for about 5 mins.
- Add the remaining sauce and a 3 tbsp of water and stir for 3 mins.
- Serve the stir fry with noodles or rice.
